OutKast is an American hip hop duo featuring Antwan “Big Boi” Patton and “AndrĂ© 3000” Benjamin It was formed in 1991 in East Point, Georgia. The duo was originally known as The OKB (The OutKast Brothers) but later changed its name to OutKast. OutKast signed to LaFace Records in 1992, becoming the label’s first hip hop act and making their first appearance on the remix of labelmate TLC’s “What About Your Friends”. In 1993, they released their first single, “Player’s Ball”. It was later featured on their 1994 debut album, ”Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik”. ”Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” peaked at number twenty eight on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum in on April 5, 1995. They released their second album, ATLiens on August 27th, 1996. OutKast has since released four more albums. OutKast has sold more than twenty five million records and have received numerous awards, which include winning six Grammys. In 2007, Andre 3000 confirmed a new OutKast album would be released, but said that he and Big Boi released solo records first, stating the group album is still possibly two years away. On Nov 14, 2008, the Guardian reported that OutKast will release their follow-up to Idlewild in 2009 after Big Boi and Andre 3000 release their solo albums in the same year.

Ja Rule

Ja Rule is the stage and professional name of American rapper Jeffrey Atkins. He was born on February 29, 1976 in Queens, New York. He was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses by his mother, health care worker Debra Atkins. Ja Rule began his rap career in 1994 with the Cash Money Click. His debut album Venni Vetti Vecci was released in 1999. Singles included “Holla Holla” and “It’s Murda” with Jay-Z and DMX. The final single was “Daddy’s Little Baby”, a duet with Ronald Isley. Venni Vetti Vecci was certified platinum by the RIAA on July 12, 1999. In 2000, Ja Rule released his sophomore album, Rule 3:36. The album peaked at number one on both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album Charts. Ja Rule has since gone on to release five more albums and fifteen singles. In July 2007, Ja Rule was arrested for gun and drug possession charges along with Lil Wayne. In 2009, Ja Rule recorded a brand new song with Brazilian singer Wanessa Camargo in two different versions, with Camargo singing in Portuguese in the version named “Meu Momento” and singing in English in the version named “Fly”.

Within Temptation

Within Temptation is a Dutch rock band formed in 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. The band also features members Ruud Adrianus Jolie, Jeroen van Veen, Stephen van Haestregt and Martijn Spierenburg. They were offered a recording contract and signed to DSFA Records the year that they formed and started work on their first release. In 1997, Within Temptation released their debut album, Enter. The band rounded out 1997 by embarking on their first international tour, of Germany and Austria. On December 4, 2000 the band released their second studio album, Mother Earth. It spawned the the single “Ice Queen” which reached the number two spot on the charts and made Within Temptation a household name. Since then, the band won the Conamus Exportprijs five years in a row. Their next album The Silent Force debuted at #1 on the Dutch charts, as did their latest, The Heart of Everything. In 2008 they released a live DVD/CD, Black Symphony, recorded with the Metropole Orchestra. Within Temptation has received several awards which include the Edison Award For Best Band in 2005, the Buma Culture Export Prize 2006 and the 3FM Award for Best Rock Artist in 2007.

Kings Of Leon

Kings of Leon is a band from Nashville, Tennessee. They were formed in 2000 by the Followill brothersl. Members of the band include Nathan Followill, Caleb Followill, Jared Followill and Matthew Followill. The brothers spent much of their youth traveling around the South with their father, Leon, a traveling United Pentecostal Church preacher and their mother, Betty-Ann, who taught them when they were not in school. The boys learned to play drums, guitar and bass as children while performing gospel songs in the church. Kings of Leon’s first release, The Holy Roller Novocaine EP came out in 2003. Four of its five songs would later be released on Youth and Young Manhood, with the songs “California Waiting” and “Wasted Time” being remade. Their debut album, Youth and Young Manhood, was an average success, particularly outside the United States where they were dubbed one of the driving forces behind the so-called “new rock revolution” by the European press, most significantly in the United Kingdom. Kings of Leon released Because of the Times in 2007. The album became the band’s first number one album in the United Kingdom and in the Republic of Ireland. In 2008 they released their smash album, Only by the Night. It spawned the hit singles “Sex on Fire” and “Closer”.
